Flatwater Broad Ripple

The Pickled Pedaler’s Favorite Places for Beer in Broad Ripple

This summer, The Pickled Pedaler began party bike tours in Broad Ripple on the first Wednesday of every month. We offer two Broad Ripple tour options. Both options are 2-hour tours, but the “Wise Pedaler” package also includes dinner! You can learn more about our Broad Ripple tours here.

In honor of The Pickled Pedaler coming to Broad Ripple, we’ve decided to put together a short list of our favorite places in Broad Ripple to grab a beer. Be sure to share yours in the comments below!

Scotty’s Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co.

All of our Broad Ripple tours start and end at Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co. Our riders love to pick up a plastic bullet fill before their tour heads out! Not only does Thr3e Wise Men brew some of the best beers in the city, they also serve up some mighty fine pizza, appetizers, and desserts! We love the classic lodge feel and the communal atmosphere.

Don’t forget! Our “Wise Pedaler” package includes 3 large chop salads, 3 large regular breadstix, and 3 large 1 topping pizzas.

Flatwater Restaurant

All of our Broad Ripple tours also stop at Flatwater Restaurant. The waterfront deck is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious beer. Be sure to check out Flatwater for lunch or dinner too. The dishes are so unique and they offer a chef’s special every day so there’s always something new and interesting to try!

HotCat has a seriously extensive selection of beers on tap and in bottles. They also have a menu that makes our mouths water (a nacho burger?! Yes, please!). But what we love most about HopCat is that they are a major supporter of Indiana’s craft brewers. We suggest ordering off the Local 30 menu—which include beers from Brugge Brasserie to Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co. to Sun King Brewery (and also many, many others from around the state)!

Old Pro’s Table

Old Pro’s Table (affectionately known as OPT) is Broad Ripple’s oldest Sports Bar, so you know it’s gotta be one of the best spots in the city to watch a game. We are huge fans of their juke box (which is always rockin’!) and Tuesday Trivia Night Fun. We also love that they keep Flat12 and Trition beers on tap—gotta love the local brews!

Trition Tap in Broad Ripple

You don’t have to head to Fort Ben to enjoy a Triton beer (although, if you’re in that area, you should stop by and take their brewery tour!). You can now get all of Triton’s house ales and specialities from the Triton Forking series at The Triton Tap Room in Broad Ripple. We suggest grabbing a pint while enjoying the view of Broad Ripple Avenue from the patio and then grabbing a growler or 6-pack to take home with you.

With so many great spots in Broad Ripple to grab a beer, it’s hard to choose favorites but these places certainly top our list. Please share your favorite spot so we can add to our ever-growing list!

Indianapolis Breweries: The Pickled Pedaler's Favorite Spots

Indianapolis Breweries: The Pickled Pedaler’s Favorite Stops

Indianapolis is home to many great breweries, making it a beer lover’s paradise. We love taking our Pickled Pedalers to the following breweries. Where will you go on your tour?

Sun King Brewing Company

No doubt you have visited, tried, or at least heard of Sun King. When Sun King opened in 2009, it made them the first full scale production brewery in Indy since the Indianapolis Brewing Company closed down in 1948. And boy have they grown fast since 2009! Now their beers are sold at many locations around the state, including Victory Field. But our favorite way to enjoy Sun King is still at the brewery. We love stopping our bike here for our riders!

Flat12 Bierwerks

Oh man, Flat12 beer is just so good! Our favorites are the Pogue’s Run Porter and the Half Cycle IPA and their seasonal and limited releases are always fun to try. The taproom is staffed by some of the most knowledgeable and friendly folks in town. Our riders absolutely love Flat12’s outdoor patio. They even have a firepit for chilly spring or autumn nights. How cool is that?!

Fountain Square Brewing Co.

The creators of Fountain Square Brewing Co. have backgrounds in microbiology, chemistry, and automation. When you take those talents and pair them with a passion for beer, great things happen! Try their brews and you’ll see just what we mean. We happily stop our bike here at riders’ requests.

Outliers Brewing Company

What we love about Outliers is how they balance their respect for traditional brewing techniques with their enthusiasm for new combinations. You’ll notice that the beer at Outliers is delightfully different so if you’re looking for something more unique, let’s pedal to Outliers!

Tow Yard Brewing Co.

There’s so much to love about Tow Yard Brewing. They have amazing beer, of course! But they also have great food, awesome outdoor seating, and amazing downtown views. And we’re just kind of in love with their beer can wall! Request a stop here and we’ll gladly oblige!

Indiana City Brewing Co.

You know what we love about about Indiana City Brewing Co.? Their love of great beer! They use a small batch handcrafted approach and then take it up a notch with speciality spices, aromatic hops, and increased alcohol. Good thing we have a motor on our bike because after a beer or two here, you might be a little too pickled to pedal!

Chilly Water Brewing Company

Chilly Water is one of the newest breweries in town that we’ve quickly fallen in love with. Owner, Skip DuVall, and his wife wanted to create a brewpub that would showcase their passion for beer and music. It just so happens that those are two of our biggest passions too! We’re just thrilled to add Chilly Water Brewing Company to our route.

Two Deep Brewing Co.

Two Deep Brewing is on a mission to brew passionately handcrafted beer while cultivating an atmosphere that brings people together. The leather couches, farmhouse tables, cozy fireplace, and delicious beer certainly makes it an inviting place to hang out. Mission complete!
